Driving Fine - Advice Needed
The good folk of WHO...

The wife on Friday had TWO driving offences come through which happened in January and March LAST YEAR, they are now demanding over £500 however these are the first letters we've had come through.

The offence was doing a right hand turn to come back on herself on the A12 near the big BnQ by Gallows Corner, spun round to come back home for whatever reason.

My question is, is there a time limit the council have to write to you in order to demand payment for a road offence? Also, the mrs spoke to them today and they "claim" to have wrote to our old address which we moved from 2 years ago, all the car documentation has been registered to the new address and the wife is registered on the electoral role so piss easy to locate.

Surely we wouldn't have to pay the full fucking lot at their incompetence of finding the right fucking address?

Thanks in advance.

People doing 130mph are handy.

It means I can go 85mph and get away with it as plod are too busy scraping up parts off the road to deal with me.

H&P

It was a GSXR 1000 K2 and was restricted to 300 kmh or 186 mph in old money.

Personally anything over 130 on a public road is a bit daft as you can’t see far enough ahead.

150 mph in anything that isn’t meant to get airborne is definitely “tomfoolery”.

Not offering any advice, but I recently had a charge for doing 26mph. BEAT THAT. Down a very steep hill with no school nearby, barely anything but trees, wide road and wide pavements. I didn't even pass another car.

No points, "just" a £100 "speed education" course.

I basically got done because gravity exists. Police cash grab. All the Fast And Furious 100mph-ers on same course laughed. One of them had been doing 120mph. But I didn't want the points.

1st gear all the way now. I drive like a comatose grandad.

I hit 150 regularly on the new A13 when I worked in Chad well st Mary , took 15 mins from ilford .

Sold the GSXR after a couple of weeks of such tomfoolery , getting nicked at that speed is probably a prison sentence.

Disgusting lack of accountability here.

You did something wrong. Take it on the chin and pay for it.

Re: Driving Fine - Advice Needed
Yeah he got me at 96 but I was lucky it was that to be honest. I wasn't given anything at all at the time, not even a note of having been pulled over. I was read my rights and told to expect a letter. He filled in some paperwork but didn't give any to me.

Re: Driving Fine - Advice Needed
and you would probably have got a ticket with a conditional offer at the time. 3 points £100 fine usually. I was doing ridiculous speed and they clocked me at 98. I thought i was doing a "little more" than that so took the 3 points and the £100 fine. No im not plod

If a postie turns up asking you to sign for something hide behind the sofa or shout "you'll never take me alive copper" whilst hitting him with a broom or any handy implement
Seriously you must have been warned at the time you will be reported for "consideration" as to prosecution or be served with a notice of intended prosecution within 14 days, they have 6 months to lay a charge with the court so the sands of time are running. You might get lucky
